UCLA New Student & Transition Programs. Transfer New Student Orientation sessions are one day. Sessions 2. 04, 2. During your New Student Orientation session you will enroll in your Fall Quarter classes. Your session will be an extensive introduction to the academic and campus life at UCLA, including: Information on your major, course planning, and fulfilling graduation requirements The process of registering and enrolling Workshops and presentations on student services on campus, such as financial aid and extracurricular activities Thinking ahead to graduate programs, professional schools, and career plans This program is for students only, and is a full day that ends in the evening. Attending the entirety of your session is the beginning of a successful start here at UCLA. The day is full of activities that will assist you in learning everything there is to know about the campus, from what courses to take to how to best get involved. With that in mind, it is our hope that you will take advantage of everything that is offered at orientation. Failure to attend or participate in any part of your session is your own responsibility, and can jeopardize proper academic advising and course enrollment. If you would like to enhance your orientation experience and begin creating a social network with other new Bruins, you may want to attend one of our Pre- Sessions. SESSION SCHEDULEYour day at New Student Orientation. Check in begins at 7: 3. Royce Hall and begins with an introduction to the UCLA community, the degree requirements that you will need to complete, and important information about registration and enrollment. Following the presentations, your New Student Advisor will meet you and be your guide and resource through the rest of the session, introducing you to many different aspects of the university: the campus academic environment, faculty expectations, and the student community. Your advisor will make this an individualized experience for you, so the focus of the day is on course and major planning and helping you shape the UCLA experience that is right for you. You also have the opportunity to attend workshops on graduate school and career planning, involvement, working on campus, money matters, and research opportunities. Individual appointments occur throughout the day to go over your schedule for Fall Quarter and your other plans for involvement at UCLA. The session concludes with enrolling in your Fall Quarter classes. Please make all travel plans after this time. No travel arrangements should be made until you have received a confirmation of the session in which you are enrolled. UCLA Arts Tours are held on most Fridays at 1:00 p.m. The tour is guided by a UCLA Arts representative and will include information on admission, audition/portfolio requirements. Women in Engineering Stayover Program Saturday, April 16 - Sunday, April 17. Note: This event is for admitted students only. Family members of students will have to make other arrangements to stay overnight. NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION CONDUCT POLICYThe time you spend at New Student Orientation is the beginning of your educational career at UCLA; please approach your time at Orientation seriously and be ready to take full advantage of what is offered during your session. Cancelling Your New Student Orientation Session. If you decide not to attend UCLA after signing up for a New Student Orientation session, you are still responsible for cancelling your session in order to avoid being billed or incurring any charges. If you attend a New Student Orientation session and do not attend UCLA, you still will be billed for all orientation fees for services provided. All students attending New Student Orientation will be expected to arrive no later than 1. Fee Waivers. Partial fee waivers are granted to eligible students who have demonstrated financial need.
